Call for nominations
AdClub is excited to launch the call for nominations for the Canadian Media Champion Award, a distinction that recognizes an industry leader who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to Canadian media.
This award honours an individual who prioritizes local publishers, broadcasters, and digital platforms over global tech giants, while creating tangible impact for brands and strengthening Canada’s media ecosystem.
Receiving this award is a recognition from peers as a leader who actively contributes to the vitality and future of Canadian media.
The winner will be announced on May 21, 2026, during AdClub Digital Day, as part of the Best of the Biz Awards.
Who can be nominated
We are looking for someone who:
Recognizes the importance of Canadian media in the national media landscape
Takes concrete actions to support and promote local media
Positively influences their organization or clients to invest in Canadian media
How to submit a nomination
Nominations can be submitted by a colleague, an industry partner, or the nominee themselves. To participate, please complete the form by Friday, April 10, 2026.
Information to provide
Explain how you, or the person you are nominating, have made a meaningful impact by championing Canadian media. Submissions may highlight one or more of the following actions:
Supporting Canadian media organizations (publishers, broadcasters, local digital platforms) by prioritizing them over large U.S. technology platforms. Share specific examples of campaigns, programs, or initiatives that put Canadian media first. Where possible, include relevant metrics such as the percentage of budget allocated locally, ROI, reach, or other concrete impact.
Demonstrating leadership by influencing your agency and/or clients to adopt pro-Canadian media strategies, whether through promoting investments, implementing internal policy changes, or actively championing Canadian media within your organization.
Creating opportunities for Canadian partners by facilitating their access to your organization and/or promoting Canadian media across the industry, including participation in internal or external committees or working groups (e.g., IAB, CMDC) or other initiatives that strengthen the Canadian media ecosystem.
One action is sufficient, but you may highlight multiple initiatives.
Selection Process
After the call for nominations, an initial jury from La Presse in Toronto — Sam Bevecqua, Mona Kiriakopoulos, Michael Valentino, Madeline Della Mora, Brendan Murray, Fiona Stedman, and Will Gooch — will select the most deserving candidates to create a shortlist of three to five finalists.
This shortlist will then be opened to public voting, allowing the community to support the leader they believe has had the greatest impact in championing Canadian media.
The final winner will be determined by a second jury composed of AdClub members — Daniel Di Tomaso, Ola Haffar, and Alan Sifuentes — combining public votes with expert jury evaluation to ensure a fair and representative selection of excellence in the industry. Please note: last year’s winner, Sarah Thompson, is not eligible this year.
